Once upon a time…
Roll back 30 years, and Steve’s adventure began when he started messing around with his Dad’s camera. The curious mind of an eight-year-old couldn’t help but be amazed by the magic discovered from behind the lens. Steve was hooked, and his passion for filmmaking only grew as he spent most of his teenage years creating short films.
In his 20s, Steve embarked on a new chapter in Australia, where he spent five transformative years. But in 2009, he returned to the UK, determined to further his education. He successfully graduated with an MA in Television Production. This academic journey was a significant milestone, yet it marked only the beginning of Steve's story.
Shortly after receiving his degree, Steve found himself navigating the world of television, laying the foundation for a promising career. However, he couldn't ignore the rapid surge of online video content and its immense potential. It was then that he made a bold decision to leave his secure job and fully immerse himself in the world of video, turning his passion into a lifelong pursuit.
Learn Online Video was born…
As Steve was gaining recognition as a filmmaker, he simultaneously ventured into the world of entrepreneurship by launching his own video production company. This company was focused on helping local brands and businesses with their online video production, producing concise, high-impact videos tailored for websites and social media.. Throughout this remarkable ten-year journey, Steve had the privilege of travelling the world, playing a key role on exciting projects, and achieving multiple awards for his company.
His experience during this time was invaluable, and is actually the main reason Learn Online Video is here today! Whilst running his video production company, Steve was often asked about one-to-one workshops or training programmes to help others. Although he loved the idea of sharing knowledge and teaching people, he was put off by the logistics involved and how much time it would eat up. And here was the lightbulb moment! YouTube was the perfect platform to help others.
Learn Online Video was launched in Feb 2017 with the intention to show people how much they can improve their filming and editing skills, and for two years he created content to a modest 1000 subscribers. Fast forward to 2020/21, and BOOM, Steve's channel surged to 350,000 subscribers! A global audience flocked to binge-watch his video archive, and major brands couldn't help but take notice. The likes of Insta360, Epidemic Sound, and Zhiyun eagerly partnered with the channel. Since then, the channel has crossed the 1.3 million subscriber milestone and is still on a rapid growth trajectory!
Steve had proved that there was a demand for his no-faff, personable teaching on Youtube but at the same time felt aspiring filmmakers deserved longer, deeper dives into the world of Filmmaking and editing.And with this, Steve was motivated to venture into creating specialised video courses, scheduled for launch in December 2023, alongside exclusive products and downloadable tools. In essence, Learn Online Video is the go-to destination for those keen on elevating their video skills, mastering creative techniques, and producing professional-quality videos.
